hello dear readers
well today i am here to talk about the things i would change in my curriculum, i am in my third year of visual arts so i will talk about my experiences with the subjects i have taken.
As for the first year, in my opinion the subjects that are being developed are good to give a base to the new developing artists.
I particularly think that the form and space programme, which is a subject to understand basic issues of sculpture and composition could do with some changes, as it lacks a bit of theoretical development to balance it with the practical work on models.
as for the academic load, in my opinion it was good, I think that speaking from my experience sometimes there is a time crunch just because of bad organisation as a student.
The bachelor's degree in visual arts has 8 semesters, which is four years, I think it's quite a limited time, they could develop other practices and even add more to the curriculum to specialise even more in the artistic area, for example I would like to continue specialising in photography and I think that one year of learning focused only on photography is too little.
I think it is quite neglected, there are many improvements that could be made, especially in the workshops in the artistic area, it also seems to me quite crazy not to have a kiosk that sells material nearby or at least a printer.
The use of technology from my point of view is quite null, I think it could be used much more, for example we do not learn in photography basic principles of photoshop, because there are no means to have the free program as students, nor technological means where to use them, the computers in the library do not provide much range of tools, I think we have to start to get more involved with these means because they will be the future.
In terms of methods of change, I think infrastructure would be the key starting point, to be able to integrate more space for workshops and better tools in them, and from there to start developing a more comprehensive curriculum aimed at training and educating artists who fully develop their interests by the most optimal means.
